The North and South Conference Wild Card Weekend kickoff the start of the CRAFL Playoffs for the 2019 season.
The Texas Mustangs and the Texas Spartans duel it out to play the 2nd seeded Houston Ducks in the South. The North Texas Mustangs play the West Texas Drillers. The winner of the North Conference Wild Card game will play against the 2nd seeded West Texas Pride.
The Mustangs finished the season with a 7-2 record and a second place finish, two games behind the Ducks. The Mustangs can score some points and can hold on their on defense. TM only allowed 78 points all season long. The winner of the Ducks versus Mustangs/Spartans will play the winner of the Austin Xtreme/San Antonio Warriors game on June 8th.
The Texas Spartans finished the season with a 7-3 record, three games behind the first seeded Victoria Hurricanes. The Spartans didn’t fare bad in either the scoring or allowed points. They will have an uphill battle playing on the road.
The North Conference has a the North Texas Mustangs will be traveling to West Texas to play the Drillers. The Drillers finished 6-4 and third place in the Flatland Division. They score well and have the home field advantage.
The Mustangs finished at .500 with a 5-5 record. The Mustangs allowed more points than scored. These may be a disadvantage but it will not matter on the field. Playing playoff football is a different kind of beast and the Mustangs could surprise some people. Only the play of the game will tell. The winner of the Wild Card game will play the Pride. The winner of the Pride versus Mustangs/Drillers will play the winner of the North Texas Orcas/West Texas Lions.
